Description
A sport of Sum and Substance. Forms a small clump of crinkly, contorted leaves. Leaves have wide green borders that later in the growing season turns to yellow. Centers are lighter green. Dividing line of center and edge is a squiggly, narrow white pattern. Lavender flowers late July into August. Matures 16 inches tall and 20 inches wide. Zones 3-9.
Note: This hosta has proven the test of time that most growers fail and their plant dies. Please keep in mind Hostas-Store guarantees for three months. Then you are on your own. As a nursery, there have been harsh winters that we have had up to 20% hosta loss. What I can say is I saw a 3 eye full size mature plant in Iowa grown in full sun with little leaf burning. And this was July. Very healthy plant. Only one plant at a well known nursery. And it was planted in a display garden. Not babied in perfect soil. Iowa winters, like MN, get very cold. This may be a hosta for farthest northern growers only. And kept in near full sun. Grown in near perfect conditions and proper Tomato Miracle Grow sprayed on the leaves.
