Funky Monkey Hosta

For hosta collectors out there who want to be sure they are getting a hosta plant that will not look similar to another variety, Funky Monkey you will need for your collection. Emerges chartreuse with deep red/black petioles. The color extends high into the leaf veins on the undersides. The petioles are long and the leaves do not cover them. Showing the deep dark red petioles. As the season progresses, some of the leaves turn all gold, some leaf centers turn gold and the edges deepen to a lustrous green. The irregular borders are unlike any typical variegation. The lighter areas may show in no specific location. At this stage don’t think the plant has something wrong with it. Will be totally healthy. I would not classify it as a beautiful hosta, but as a funky looking hosta. Deep purple flowers. Matures 16 inches high and 25 inches wide. Zones 3-9.
